Addictions To Port Royale

Problem for Europe

Turkey wants Europe according to the Minister Bonino.

The election to the presidency of the republic after many vicissitudes failed. Gul is the new president and breaks it the tacit compromise the secular character of Turkey where the government has always been a secular Islamic Guidance and the presidency. The military is at the door and await events. It must be said that perhaps for the first time since the birth of the new Turkey today, the protectors of the secular state has lost .

You could say that the people have won, even if there are too many nuances in the Turkish reality.

Street then, now with more quiet, a scenario of Turkey into Europe. But in which Europe? seems undisputed that sooner or later the former Ottoman Empire will be an integral, but we need to see in which direction.

Three questions to be answered:

  • Kurdish
  • Problem of "Turkishness" punishable under the law if offense
  • Obstruction of some members like France and Poland

Political Europe does not currently exist. Prodi calls for a two-speed because otherwise it's impossible to go forward. In my opinion the problem is that Turkey would enter into a political when in fact the only possibility is that Europe is confirmed exclusively economic.

Now the question is what can bring the rest of the continent such as the Turkish economy , with a margin for increased growth, but with our macroeconomic parameters that SFOR, and unemployment in double figures.

The reasoning then, if we want to or not Turkey in Europe must go beyond the cultural contexts and remain lucid analysis in economic policy.
